The Learn-To-Turn 1-2-3 Program

A progression of three (3) lessons, enabling the participant to progress his or her skills throughout the season at their own pace of learning. This package starts you at the very beginning and includes rentals and lift passes to get you through those lessons. Upon completion of all 3 lessons, the participant is awarded a Little Beaver Season Pass, good for the remainder of the current season. This program is for the student who has NEVER been on the snow before.  If you have had a lesson in the past and just need a refresher, the single Learn-To-Turn lesson is your best option.

Cost:

$220
Includes 3 group lessons, rentals, and all-day lift passes for the Little Beaver lift.

Level 1: For those who have never been on a snowboard or skis and would like to learn.

Level 2: For those who have been on snow but are still working on controlling speed and stopping on the easiest slope. Not yet comfortable riding the chair lift.

Level 3: For those who have ridden the chair lift but are still not confident on green runs and are working on turning and linking turns.

NOTE: If you feel that 3 lessons is too much of a commitment, you can take 1 of the levels as a stand-alone beginner package. The price still includes lesson, pass, and rentals but allows you to commit to 1 lesson at a time. These packages are for first-time beginners only.

FAQ regarding Learn-to-Turn Classes
  • I have never skied or snowboarded before. Is this the right program for me?

This is one-stop shopping for beginners. You will first register at the Snowsports School and be given instructions on where to meet, shown how to attach your lift ticket, advised on the weather conditions and anything else that may be of concern to you. You will then be directed to the rental shop to be fitted for your rentals. This is a group lesson and people learn at varying rates. If you are unusually athletic and want to make maximum progress or you are extremely nervous and would like 100% attention of the instructor’s attention on you, a private lesson may be a better option.

  • I am afraid of heights and can’t imagine how I will ride a chair lift.

Please inform the instructor of your fears. They will teach you how to ride the chair and either ride with you or find another instructor to help you. It is also possible to complete your entire first lesson on the surface lift.

  • Two of my children are too young for this class. Why can’t they join in?

The minimum ages for Learn-To-Turn are in place to try to keep all participants in the group moving at a similar pace. While it is possible for a 5 year old to learn faster than a 10 or 20 year old, it is unusual. We don’t want the experience of any of the participants to be compromised because the instructor has to spend too much time helping young children.

  • What lessons are available for younger children?

Private lessons provide the most personal attention for any beginner but are particularly appropriate for very young children. For group lessons, we offer Kids’ Weekend Series and Holiday Group lessons. Please go to these links and check when these programs are offered. They do not all coincide with Learn-To-Turn.

  • What should I wear?

Please see our section on What to Wear for details. Dressing in layers of clothing allows you to adjust for increasing or decreasing temperatures throughout the day. Generally, cotton is not an appropriate material for skiing. Synthetic or lightweight wool layers are better.
